As an unemployed and laid-off teacher, I've been thinking a lot lately about Purpose. Thinking about purpose tends to lead to depression, anxiety, and restlessness. The latter, at least, I hope to alleviate with this blog. Teaching is a creative outlet, no matter how many people look at it as a "fallback" career. Sometimes, when I haven't created something with my hands for awhile, I just have to knit.
This blog is for that. It's for when I have to express the creativity that comes from being a teacher. It's for when I have a great idea for a lesson plan, but no students to try it out on. It's for when substitute teaching gets so depressing I want to cry. It's for when I have a new job, and students, and colleagues. It's for when I'm scared that if I don't teach this year, I'll lose the ability to teach.
